Pawster Nashville, a local nonprofit providing crisis foster care for pets, welcomed pet and drag lovers alike to the annual “Doggie Drag Show” at Play Dance Bar as part of their fourth birthday celebration. Proceeds from cover charges and tips for performers went directly to veterinary care and supplies for foster pets.

This year, the event was 90s-themed, featuring costumes and songs from the 90s, a doggie runway walk, silent auction items, and the opportunity to vote for the “Best Doggie in Drag.”

Taking the stage were pups including Koda Couture, Mack Daddy, Daddy’s Chestnut, Dolly Pawton, Princess Phoebe, Pom Cruise, Electra Fierce Furry, Scrappy Stardust, Sir Saucy Strut, Freya Love, Grunge Glamourhound, and Papa Squat.

Pawster’s Young Leaders Council board intern, Michael McGarvey coordinated the event and said, “Pawster is thrilled to host the 2nd Annual Doggie Drag Show because we can raise awareness of our mission to keep pets and families together while celebrating with Nashville’s LGBTQI+ community.”

Across all events during the birthday weekend, a grand total of $31,216 was raised to support people and pets in crisis, blowing past their initial goal of $20,000. Pawster says this is enough to provide foster care for 62 dogs and cats while their families are in crisis this year.

At the top of the image is a pink icon showing a maze, with a headline below reading “The Trans Youth Emergency Project Helps Families Through the Maze of Accessing Gender-Affirming Care.” Below that are three icons with text. The first is a blue and pink compass with text reading “Patient Navigation to out-of-state healthcare options,” the second is a network with a person in the middle, reading “Ecosystem of care where families can reliably turn” and the final is a blue and pink gift with text that reads “Emergency grants to offset travel and medicine costs.” Beneath that is the Trans Youth Emergency Project logo, and a line that says ““www.TransYouthEmergencyProject.org” Trans Youth Emergency Project Supports Trans Youth, Families 2 min read
