Nashville, TN — The Tennessee Pride Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce MORGXN as the winner of the 2024 Voice of Change Award at the 11th Annual Pride in Business Awards.

The Voice of Change Award recognizes artists in the entertainment industry who have used their voices to lift the LGBTQ+ community. Born and based in Nashville, soaring indie-music artist Morgan Isaac Karr, better known as MORGXN, has been an outspoken advocate for LGBTQ+ communities, particularly in states such as Tennessee where he describes speaking out as “urgent and vital.” Following his viral duet “Wonder” with Sara Bareilles, MORGXN has released his newest album Beacon which was intentionally recorded in Tennessee — a state where queer and trans rights are continuously challenged.  MORGXN follows an impressive line-up of previous winners, such as four-time Grammy-nominated artist Allison Russell who received the Voice of Change award in 2023.

“The Voice of Change award intends to recognize artists who use their platform—sometimes even at great risk to their brand—to fight for change and inspire others to take action,” said Stephanie Mahnke, Executive Director of the Tennessee Pride Chamber. “Legislatively, each year, so much is at stake for LGBTQ+ communities in the South, and it is incredibly vital to recognize and celebrate voices such as MORGXN’s whose presence, work, and advocacy help move the needle forward.”

“I grew up in this city and the minute I realized I was ‘different’ I was afraid for my life,” said MORGXN. “I could not have left fast enough. Coming home has felt both intentional and magical — to live and love openly in this city is such a vital part of who I am. I am charged to stand up for others who feel different in this city, and I am honored beyond words to receive this award.”

MORGXN will be presented with the Voice of Change Award at the Pride in Business Awards on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at the Westin Nashville. Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell will give opening remarks, and awards will be presented for several categories, including Small Business Leader of the Year, Corporate Partner of the Year, and Advocate of the Year.
