Local natural grocery store expands reach to Vanderbilt area

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Turnip Truck, Nashville’s local natural grocery store, recently opened its fourth and largest location at 1920 Broadway in The Broadview at Vanderbilt development.

This new location pays homage to the Midtown neighborhood’s history where Sunshine Grocery, Nashville’s first natural foods store, got its start in the in the 1970s. The Turnip Truck team looks forward to continuing the legacy of nourishing Nashville’s communities with the highest quality local, natural and organic food available.

“We are thrilled to bring Turnip Truck’s culture, dedication to customer service and fresh, natural goods to the Midtown community,” said John Dyke, founder of Turnip Truck. “We are grateful to be a part of this dynamic neighborhood and are excited to be able to serve our neighbors high-quality, holistic options.”

The nearly 24,000-square-foot space marks the store’s growth opening its largest store to date and the only grocery store in the area, bringing convenient access to locally sourced, health-conscious goods to the neighborhood’s residents.

Guests can expect some of the freshest organic produce, natural groceries, supplements, body care products, full-service meat and seafood departments and Turnip Truck’s signature smoothie, coffee, salad and hot food bars. The store will also offer beer and wine, artisan cheeses, a dry bulk and herb set and a fresh nut butter grinder, reflecting the company’s commitment to a diverse and high-quality shopping experience.

With the expanded store size, Turnip Truck has equipped the Midtown location with its largest in-store kitchen, which will provide new offerings including house-made pizzas, a sushi chef, cold-pressed juicing and expanded hot food, soup, salad and sandwich selections. The larger kitchen will help to continue elevating Turnip Truck’s prepared food offerings with plans to launch a full-service catering program in the future.

The grocer will employ around 70 new employees, bringing new opportunities to the neighborhood, in addition to their farm-to-table produce. Open positions can be found at theturniptruck.com.

In celebration of the opening, there will be a grand opening event and ribbon cutting on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Guests can shop while enjoying live entertainment from local artists, including Madison Hughes and musicians connected with the W.O. Music School, giveaways, tastings from Turnip Truck vendors and deals across the store.
