Tennessee Pride Chamber Responds to Tractor Supply Statement

"We have canceled our July Brewing Up Business with Tractor Supply, and we have revoked their membership to the Tennessee Pride Chamber."
Editor Connect 10 months ago 2 min read

NASHVILLE, TN – On June 28, the Tennessee Pride Chamber released the following statement in response to Tractor Supply’s recent announcement to withdraw support for LGBT+ causes:

“Tractor Supply recently released a statement that they will no longer be supporting DEI, LGBT+ or climate causes, caving to pressure from a select group. While Tractor Supply had been a valuable member of the Pride Chamber in previous years, the Pride Chamber holds all its members to a code of ethics that aligns with our mission, ensuring those you see as part of our chamber and directory have committed to improving equitable and accessible LGBT+ inclusion in their workplace and Tennessee’s economy. These are not partisan issues, but a matter of human rights and sustainable business practice. To the LGBT+ employees at Tractor Supply, we see you, honor you, and will continue to support you.

“We have canceled our July Brewing Up Business with Tractor Supply, and we have revoked their membership to the Tennessee Pride Chamber. We will continue to fight for economic inclusion for Tennessee’s LGBT+ communities, most of all and especially those in our rural areas.”

Tractor Supply Company had been a member of the Tennessee Pride Chamber since 2021 and was recently nominated as Corporate Partner of the Year at the 2024 Pride in Business Awards by public vote. The revocation of membership comes from the violation of the Pride Chamber’s Member Code of Ethics, which every business member agrees to as part of their membership and that states members “Support the values and goals of the Chamber, as well as the LGBT community in general, in a constructive and positive manner.”

The Tennessee Pride Chamber will announce the new host of Brewing Up Business this coming week.
