FROM THE PUBLISHER

Welcome to the new year, folks. We’re in full swing at Connect and we’re planning some great events for this year. The first one coming up is the 3rd Annual LGBTQ+ Health Fair on March 23 from 10 am – 3 pm at Tech Hill Commons. We have a variety of healthcare providers and community organizations scheduled to be there. This year, you will have the opportunity to have a biometric screening done by Jace Stephens with Inclusive Health. Nashville CARES will also be onsite with their mobile clinic so be sure to take advantage of this free event. Parking is free too! Save the date and take control of your health.

Read our virtual issue online at weconnect.lgbt/virtual-issue.

Speaking of health, this is our annual health issue! We have all kinds of articles on health and wellness such as health screenings and why they’re important along with empowering stories such as the Ink Blot project, where tattoos are more than just ink.

We want to congratulate David Andrews of D’Andrews Bakery and Arnold Myint of International Market 2 for being nominated for a prestigious James Beard award.

Also, we’re participating in a study designed to learn more about LGBTQ-oriented media in the Southeastern United States – why it matters, and how it can best serve both your community in particular and the broader LGBTQ community at large. As a reader of Connect, we hope you’ll take a few minutes to add your voice by taking the online survey at this link. It shouldn’t require more than five minutes of your time; your feedback is incredibly appreciated!

At the top of the image is a pink icon showing a maze, with a headline below reading “The Trans Youth Emergency Project Helps Families Through the Maze of Accessing Gender-Affirming Care.” Below that are three icons with text. The first is a blue and pink compass with text reading “Patient Navigation to out-of-state healthcare options,” the second is a network with a person in the middle, reading “Ecosystem of care where families can reliably turn” and the final is a blue and pink gift with text that reads “Emergency grants to offset travel and medicine costs.” Beneath that is the Trans Youth Emergency Project logo, and a line that says ““www.TransYouthEmergencyProject.org” Trans Youth Emergency Project Supports Trans Youth, Families 2 min read
