One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.
– Bob Marley
I think we can all relate to what Bob Marley says. Even the songs that cause tears to stream down your face are releasing that pain inside. The majority of my publisher’s notes are written with music playing in the background. I’m listening to Icona Pop right now as it was just announced they will be at Nashville Pride this year.
Music makes the people come together. Music makes the world go round. And you will find in this music issue some fresh new artists hitting the scene.
We also go back into the closet — the Lavender Closet that is. Dr. Eric Hughes is filling a void in Rutherford County with this new project that provides people the opportunity to “shop” for clothes without discrimination.
Of course, there’s that pesky little thing that we do called a legislative update. While it’s so annoying to deal with these legislators, it’s important that you all know what laws they are trying to pass that will cause harm to the LGBTQ+ community.
It’s not all doom and gloom though. There are a lot of grand LGBTQ+ events coming up such as the Preds Pride night, the Tennessee Pride Chamber Pride in Business Awards, not to mention the numerous PRIDE celebrations that will be taking place in June and beyond this year.
All of these events, your voices, your support and showing up is making a difference.
Let’s keep pushing for equality.
