FROM THE PUBLISHER

Happy Pride!!!! There are so many celebrations going on in June. Every day is a day for pride though. Be proud of who you are and know you are more than enough.

It’s an emotional time in our country, hell, in the world. It’s our hope that we can offer a reprieve from the negative. We encourage you to be kind, love one another and never give up.

In this issue, we feature someone who definitely never gives up, Ron Sanford. Ron has been a staple of the Middle Tennessee community for decades. He is well-known throughout our country and beyond. His second home happens to be in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Ron is bringing his flair and his devotion to the LGBTQ+ community there by starting up the first-ever Pride celebration scheduled for January 2023.

We also take you on a trip to Louisville with gay travel expert, Joey Amato, and we take a look at the biggest Pride festival in Tennessee, Nashville Pride.

I would be amiss if I didn’t say Thank You again to our first annual Connect Community Health Fair sponsors. We’re already planning for the next one so if you have any feedback you want to provide, reach out to us.

We have two other events slated for Fall. The first one is our inaugural Bark in the Boro, which will be held on October 8 beginning at 10 am on the campus of MTSU outside of the Student Union building. The second event is our annual HoliGAY market. More details to come.

And lastly, this year is an election year. We won’t progress if you don’t get out and vote. Make sure you’re registered. To sign up to vote, visit https://ovr.govote.tn.gov/. To find out if you’re still registered, visit https://sos.tn.gov/elections/services/check-my-voter-registration-status. To find out where to vote and your voting districts, https://tnmap.tn.gov/voterlookup/.

Let’s connect, and let’s go celebrate!
