The rain did not stop the crowds from showing up and showing out on Saturday. All attendees were required to be vaccinated or have negative COVID test prior to the event. There were no issues reported with the entrance requirements.
The Nashville Pride Festival and Parade brought people to Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park in droves. Ponchos, rain jackets, and rainbow umbrellas were hot commodities while people traveled booth to booth to visit vendors, community services, and food trucks when the festival opened.
The parade, while wet, was a success with over 90 entrants who marched from 2nd Ave to 5th Ave through downtown Nashville. Flags twirled, horns honked, and crowds cheered showing their support to the LGBTQ+ community.
While the rain delayed some performances in the morning, by afternoon the shows were in full swing. Drag shows on the Stonewall Stage, singer-songwriters like Adam Mac took on the Rainbow Stage, and the Equality Stage hosted Dominique Morgan, The Aces, Orville Peck, and Kim Petras.
Unfortunately, the grounds were too saturated from the rain Saturday added to rainfall overnight which led to event organizers having to make the difficult call to cancel the second day of planned activities.
