Raised on the rustic backdrop of a pig farm by a single mother and grandparents, April Harrington’s story is a true example of how perseverance, purpose, and passion can shape a remarkable journey. Today, she’s not only a highly successful real estate entrepreneur in Middle Tennessee but also a leader known for her commitment to inclusivity and community-driven initiatives. From humble beginnings, she has transformed her early life lessons into a career that balances thriving businesses with a profound commitment to social good.
“Growing up, we moved around a lot — too many states to count,” April recalled. “But that experience, along with my time on the farm, instilled a deep appreciation for hard work and the meaning of ‘home’.” This feeling would eventually become the cornerstone of her real estate career, where she’s dedicated to creating spaces where others can feel that same sense of belonging.
Finding Purpose Through Real Estate
April’s journey into real estate wasn’t born out of a desire for material success — it was a calling. Over the past decade, she’s built a reputation not just as a Realtor®, but as a team leader, travel concierge, and property management expert. With three thriving real estate firms under her guidance in Middle Tennessee, April has honed a business model that values ethical leadership and personal growth, both for her clients and her team.
Her work transcends the ordinary boundaries of real estate. It’s not just about helping people find a house. April explained, “My real estate journey began with a passion for creating spaces where people feel truly at home.”
Her passion for growth isn’t limited to local endeavors, though. April is also an international investment coach, and the founder of Destination Finders International, a company that helps people connect, invest, and grow on a global scale. Whether she’s working with first-time homebuyers or international investors, her focus is always on creating opportunities for others to thrive.
The Call of Middle Tennessee
After traveling across seven states and two countries, and even earning dual citizenship in Costa Rica, April found her forever home in Middle Tennessee. So, what made this place stand out?
She said there’s just something about Nashville – between the balance of city life and natural beauty along with the warmth of the people – that drew her back. April explained, “What ultimately sealed the deal was the deep sense of inclusivity and community. As someone passionate about advocating for diversity and inclusion, I found that Middle Tennessee not only embraced me but also offered a platform where I could make a meaningful impact.”
Her commitment to the community is evident through her work as the founding President of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance in Nashville and as a board member of New Horizons. From sponsoring Nashville Pride to helping paint the first rainbow crosswalk in her city, April’s activism is intertwined with her professional and personal life. Her drive to create inclusive, safe spaces goes far beyond property lines — it’s about fostering a sense of belonging for all.
Building a Legacy of Inclusivity
April’s work isn’t just about homes and investments; it’s about safety and security for everyone. That’s why, in 2023, her brokerage became Safe Place certified with the Metro Nashville Police Department — a milestone that aligns with her mission to make her firms more than just places to conduct business, but pillars of community support.
“As a team, we’re committed to inclusivity and protecting the well-being of all our clients and community members,” she said. “It’s important to us that everyone who walks through our doors knows they have a safe and welcoming place to turn to, ESPECIALLY in times of need,” April emphasized.
Her heart for philanthropy doesn’t stop there. April firmly believes that everyone deserves access to affordable, safe housing and has long been a vocal advocate for affordable housing and LGBTQ+ rights. Her Local Artist Night Markets, which take place quarterly, have become community staples, with proceeds going to causes like PFLAG and Launchpad. “It’s about giving back to the community that’s given me so much,” she said.
Leading with Vision Looking ahead to
2025, April is filled with excitement. Her primary goal? To lead all three of her real estate firms, including the newest venture, EXIT Real Estate Experts South, to new heights of success. She says this is not just about business growth but creating a legacy of community-driven real estate practices.
When she met her future business partner Furtesha Woods, she knew something special was happening. It wasn’t just about launching a new firm — it was about answering a higher calling according to April. “Our mission is to create a community- driven approach to real estate that fosters trust, innovation, and real human connection.”
Beyond Business
When April isn’t leading her firms or advocating for her community, you’ll find her traveling or recharging on her boat at the lake. An avid traveler, April’s curiosity knows no bounds — her dream destination is the Danakil Desert in East Africa, one of the most extreme environments on Earth. “It’s a place of both immense beauty and peril,” she said. “The challenge of exploring something so raw and untamed is humbling. It reminds me of how much of our world remains undiscovered.”
This sense of adventure spills over into her approach to life and work. Whether it’s navigating the complexities of real estate or finding new ways to give back to her community, April isn’t afraid of a challenge. In fact, she thrives on it.
One thing is certain April Harrington isn’t just shaping the real estate market in Middle Tennessee — she’s creating a legacy built on community, inclusivity, and a genuine love for helping others. She remarked, “It’s a big undertaking, but with the right people and vision, I’m confident this will be the most impactful year yet.”
