Two beloved Nashville chefs have found their names listed as semifinalists for the prestigious 2024 James Beard Award. The James Beard Awards recognize outstanding restaurants and chefs throughout the United States.

David Andrews, executive chef and owner of D’Andrews Bakery & Cafe, returned to Nashville in 2016 after solidifying his presence in the New York food scene. Pastry chef by trade, Andrews prides himself in using the best ingredients in his dishes, to ensure he is offering his guests superior desserts and pastries. Everything in the store is made in-house and nothing pre-made is shipped in. This is one reason why D’Andrews Bakery & Cafe has been tapped as a semifinalist in the Outstanding Bakery category.

Nashville-born chef and restaurateur Arnold Myint is a semifinalist in the Best Chef: Southeast category. Myint has been chef and owner of several Nashville favorites including PM Nashville, BLVD Bistro, and Suzy Wong’s House of Yum. His most recent endeavor has been opening International Market 2 with his sister Anna Myint. Arnold also competed in season seven of “Top Chef” and season 11 of “Food Network Star.”

As the Nashville food scene continues to gain national acclaim, the inclusion of D’Andrews Bakery & Cafe and Arnold Myint as James Beard Award semifinalists solidifies the city’s position as a culinary destination.

The complete list of semifinalists for the 2024 Restaurant and Chef Awards is now available on the James Beard Foundation website, generating excitement and curiosity among food enthusiasts and industry insiders alike. The nominees for each category will be unveiled on Wednesday, April 3, leading up to the grand celebration of winners at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards ceremony on Monday, June 10 at the iconic Lyric Opera of Chicago.

At the top of the image is a pink icon showing a maze, with a headline below reading “The Trans Youth Emergency Project Helps Families Through the Maze of Accessing Gender-Affirming Care.” Below that are three icons with text. The first is a blue and pink compass with text reading “Patient Navigation to out-of-state healthcare options,” the second is a network with a person in the middle, reading “Ecosystem of care where families can reliably turn” and the final is a blue and pink gift with text that reads “Emergency grants to offset travel and medicine costs.” Beneath that is the Trans Youth Emergency Project logo, and a line that says ““www.TransYouthEmergencyProject.org” Trans Youth Emergency Project Supports Trans Youth, Families 2 min read
