FROM THE PUBLISHER

I don’t even know where to begin. Health Matters, yes it does, but when you have a hate-filled state legislature hell bent on erasing you as a human being, you have to think what does matter. When you feel
overcome and defeated, how do you fix those feelings? When you feel angry and frustrated, what do you do?

I’m NOT going back in the closet though. Are you?

There is still so much more to be done so I encourage you all to connect with the Tennessee Equality Project (TEP) and other groups who fight the fight daily. Support the ACLU as they bring lawsuits to this state and others. Support can come in many forms from = postcard writing, calling your state senators and representatives, showing up to the legislative sessions or in the case of Murfreesboro, their city council public forums.

We have a right to exist, but moreover, we have a right to LIVE! And LIVE we will.

There are some good things coming your way though. In this issue, we have several health related articles focused on our community. We also catch up with Fimone, a local LGBTQ+ artist extraordinaire and the National Museum of African American Music as they celebrate 50 years of Hip-Hop. Connect Media Group is hosting the 2nd Annual Connect Community LGBTQ+ Health Fair on March 25th! Come and engage with welcoming and affirming providers and organizations dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community.

This LGBTQ+, women-owned, company is also hosting a pet fair on April 29th on the campus of MTSU. Bring your fur babies and enjoy the day. Who knows? You may take home one of the many adoptable animals that will be there as well.

Later this year, we will be bringing you live and in-person the Connect HoliGAY Market. See, we’re not going anywhere!

Let’s Connect!

At the top of the image is a pink icon showing a maze, with a headline below reading “The Trans Youth Emergency Project Helps Families Through the Maze of Accessing Gender-Affirming Care.” Below that are three icons with text. The first is a blue and pink compass with text reading “Patient Navigation to out-of-state healthcare options,” the second is a network with a person in the middle, reading “Ecosystem of care where families can reliably turn” and the final is a blue and pink gift with text that reads “Emergency grants to offset travel and medicine costs.” Beneath that is the Trans Youth Emergency Project logo, and a line that says ““www.TransYouthEmergencyProject.org” Trans Youth Emergency Project Supports Trans Youth, Families 2 min read
