New Exhibition at Sometimes in Madison, Tennessee – Gayface: An Exploration of Modern Queer Identity

Gayface, the documentary photo project from multi-disciplinary artist Lauren Tabak, will be on exhibit April 8, 9 and10 at Sometimes located at 213 Brawner Ave. in Madison, Tennessee. The exhibit consists of 20 large portraits accompanied by written statements from the subjects exploring themes of sexuality, gender, visibility, and community.

The opening reception for Gayface is on April 8th, 2022 from 7-11 pm and features Nashville’s own DJ Jane Dupree. Tickets are free, please RSVP at: t.ly/BJdi. As part of the project, Tabak will be shooting for two days in Madison. Anyone interested in participating should visit t.ly/J5pc.

Lauren Tabak is a Clio Award-winning filmmaker, photographer, and musician who takes inspiration from just about everyone and everything. She hopes that by taking this show on the road, shooting and showing in other cities besides her native San Francisco, she will create a space for meaningful, connected conversations about LGBTQIA folks’ unique and universal experiences.

Started in 2020, Sometimes is a multidisciplinary artisan space located in Madison, Tennessee, right outside of East Nashville. They cater to a plethora of art endeavors including a contemporary gallery, colorful dance/event space, photo/video location, and six resident visual art studios.
